The 401(k) plan is America’s new retirement plan. With this distinction also comes an increased focus from the Department of Labor (DOL) charged with overseeing qualified plans, and most recently members of Congress who have announced several bills aimed at providing adequate 401(k) Fee Disclosure to plan participants. At the heart of the focus from both groups, as well as many others in the retirement industry, is to determine if these plans are actually succeeding at their primary goal – that of helping participants save enough money for a comfortable retirement.
If you are a plan sponsor or human resources professional and concerned about operating a successful 401(k) plan, you won’t want to miss this seminar. Our guest speaker, Gary Newman, from the Department of Labor, will provide an understanding of common mistakes in administering 401(k) plans, DOL audit initiatives and your fiduciary responsibilities as the plan’s sponsor under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Diana Jordan, Pension Consultant with Sikich Retirement Plan Services, will lead seminar participants through an example of how to uncover the fees in a 401(k) platform according to the DOL Model Fee Disclosure Form. She has achieved the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst (AIFA®) designation and is a frequent speaker on fiduciary topics for employer sponsored retirement plans.
The seminar is free to Chamber members and Sikich clients. Reservations will be taken on a first come first served basis with a maximum number of 75 participants.
